Are you keeping good records of your child's academic history and accomplishments?
There will likely be times when you or your students will need records showing their academic history and accomplishments. What would happen if clear and complete records were not available?
It would be frustrating, difficult, and time-consuming to try to create records years later, and many accomplishments may be forgotten.
But all home schooled children deserve full credit for all of their academic accomplishments. Nobody should miss out on opportunities simply because good records were not maintained.
That's Why We Created Home School Data Bank
Home School Data Bank was created by home schoolers for home schoolers. Our goal? Make it easy for home schooling parents and educators to keep academic records for their students.
We understand home schoolers appreciate the flexibility that a home schooling lifestyle affords. And we understand home schoolers generally like to avoid unnecessary formalities. That's why we built Home School Data Bank to preserve the bare minimum in terms of academic records - just enough to ensure the important accomplishments and meaningful academic progress is preserved. But we also accommodate those who wish to record additional details that may be useful someday.
Academic records don't need to look like this.
We offer a better way.
You can use a cell phone, tablet, or full-size computer to access Home School Data Bank. There is no app to install. Just go to our website.

Set Them Up For Success
Your children deserve every opportunity for success you can provide.
- This is why you home school.
- This is why you take the time to carefully select curriculum.
- This is why you find resources, support from like-minded parents, and plan for their future.
All that's remaining is to preserve an accurate and complete history of all they have accomplished. That's where we help.
Simple Yet Complete
Home School Data Bank provides the minimal record-keeping features needed by home schoolers to satisfy many state requirements for academic record-keeping
How it Works
Home School Data Bank guides you through these three activity types for each student for each semester:
1. Initial Setup
These tasks should be completed around the beginning of each semester. Or at least they will need to be completed before the remaining tasks can be started.
Enter grade level: Grade levels supported include K-12.
Enter course of study: This is the list of courses in which the student is enrolled for the current semester.
Enter academic materials: For each course enter the academic materials like text books and lab manuals to be used by the student. This would be the curriculum in use. You can also enter an optional course description to record how the course is to be completed, specific academic emphasis, or any other aspect you want to record.
2. Monthly Updates
These activities are to be completed during each month of the current semester.
Record Attendance: We provide a calendar where you can point-n-click to indicate which days were school days, sick days, or vacation days.
Enter Monthly Evaluations: At the end of each month you are prompted to record progress per class, academic accomplishments, extracurricular activities, and field trips.
3. End-of-Semester Activities
The following activities should be completed for each student as soon as all coursework has been completed for the current semester.
Enter Final Grades: Enter the final grade earned for each class.
Upload Student Work Samples: Upload one or more student work samples that are representative of the student's level of competency.
Get Report Cards and Other Reports: Report cards become available as soon as the final grades are entered for each course. You should download and optionally print reports showing course of study, attendance, and student work samples.
Report cards for high school students include total grade points earned and grade point average (GPA).
Report cards for elementary students include the following performance descriptions per class: Outstanding, Satisfactory, and Needs Improvement. The Pass/Fail classification is available depending on how the class is defined.
We Show You What to Do Next
Home School Data Bank keeps track of your record keeping progress for each student throughout each semester, and tells you exactly what you should do next. You will see a checklist that automatically updates as you complete record-keeping tasks. Each item in the checklist has a link to the page where you can complete the corresponding task.
Each administrative page has instructions that provide you with helpful information and perspective so you can understand everything you are seeing on screen.
State Requirements Vary
Requirements for academic record keeping are different from state to state. And for any given state, record keeping requirements may change over time. Home School Data Bank management evaluates these differences in anticipation of providing support to home schoolers where online support would be practical. We do not claim to satisfy all state requirements for record keeping at all times.
Home School Group Support
Home School Data Bank can be used by either (1) independent home schools, or (2) home schools participating in a formal home school support group.
Support Group Administration
Administrators of home school support groups get visibility into the academic record-keeping status of all families and students in the group.
1. Administrative Reports
Group administrators can generate reports showing record-keeping status of all families within their group.
For example: Status of course of study for each student in each family, whether monthly evaluations have been completed, and whether final grades have been entered at the end of each academic term.
2. Course Definitions and Credit Verification
Group administrators can review and verify the accuracy of courses as requested by parents/teachers within their group. This includes verification of course materials, grade level, or credit hours per class.
3. Report Card Review
Group administrators can review the accuracy of report cards and suggest corrections to parents before report cards are finalized.
About Home School Support Group Assistance
While student records management in home schools is primarily the responsibility of parents/teachers, support group administrators may modify student records as may be requested or helpful.
This kind of assistance may be a benefit of membership in a home school support group that uses Home School Data Bank for academic records management purposes. What specific assistance is provided by a support group depends on policies and practices of each respective support group. Home School Data Bank does not participate in support group management and does not control or inform support group policy.
